To get an verifiable anecdote for a discussion at another site about kids not walking to school anymore, I checked Google maps for the distance between our old house and elementary school. And of course I couldn't help zooming in for street view. They cut down all the hedges. There's grass growing in the driveway. But at least the front door is still red...

(Oh, and it's six tenths of a mile, which I remember as rather more.)
