Summer Grilling Season
May. 18th, 2009 02:59 pmCleaning the venturi tubes on our grill is really easy. First you loosen the big metal bolts that hold the side tables on, and remove the side tables. (Have some kind of supporting object ready for the one with the burner on it, because the gas hose for that isn't very long.) Then you undo the three non-stainless, non-galvanized screws that hold the side of the front panel on. Then you remove the two machine bolts that stabilize the bottom of the front panel. Then you pull the front panel, with attached valves, gently away from the grill, making sure not to stress either its gas hose or the non-flex connection to the rotisserie burner. Whatever you do, don't follow the instructions in the manual for a later model (the only one online) to unscrew the burner tubes from the inside. The connecting threads (which have been subject to heat) will break, and the burners are too long to take out that way in any case.
Once the venturis have been cleaned, re-assemble completely before testing to see if the cleaning was successful. Oh, and if you don't do this on a regular basis (monthly is suggested in one place), or if you keep you grill in a "hostile environment", your warranty is void.
I think it might be time for a solar oven or a firepit.
